You’re invited to free class on global warming

In what may be a first in free open-access education, the University of Pennsylvania is inviting all comers to take part in a course on Sustainable Environmental Policy & Global Politics (website, iTunes, YouTube).

You can download the lectures on iTunes or view them on YouTube and then take part in message boards and blogs at the course website. The course website also has links to the syllabus and readings.

Led by Penn Professors Don Kettl and Robert A. Fox, the course will look at global climate change and the challenge of crafting public policies.  Students will present some of their policy proposals at a conference in Seoul in May 2009. Students at universities in South Korea, Japan and Russia will also be participating in the course.

According to a Penn press release, this course is the first in a new university program called Open Learning Commons.

You can view the opening lecture here.
